Merita Williams Willoughby, 69, passed away late Friday evening in the comfort of her home surrounded by her loving family and friends.
Merita was born in Nash County on August 13, 1947 to the late Vernon “Bunn” and Daisy Brantley Williams. She was retired from Bridgestone Firestone. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.
A service of remembrance was held on Sunday, February 12, 2017 at 5:00 p.m. in the chapel of Kenly Funeral Service with the Rev. Lyn Renfrow officiating. A graveside service will be held on Monday, February 13, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the Kenly Cemetery.
Merita is survived by her loving husband of 26 years Paul JR. Willoughby; sons, Tommy Williams and special friend Sharon Pate of Kenly, Paul Lynn Willoughby and wife Elizabeth of Rock Ridge and Ritchie Willoughby and wife Jennifer of Kenly; step daughter, Wendy Willoughby of Front Royal VA; brother, Millard Williams of Mechanicsville VA; sisters, Angie Anderson and husband Charles of Dudley and Gail Denton of Bailey; grandchildren, Tyler and Victoria Williams, Kathryn, Barnes, Reid and Jace Willoughby; step grandchildren, Amanda and Garrett Hunyady, and a great grandchild, Adysin Mawbray.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Alonzo Williams and sisters, Kathleen Denton, and Janice Boswell.
The family will receive immediately following the service at the funeral home and other times at her home.
