The Selma Police Department Thursday issued the following press release regarding the Feb. 11 shooting at The Rumba Club on South Pollock St. where one person later died.
“On February 11, 2017 the Selma Police Department was called to the Rumba Club to a shots fired call. When the police arrived, they found one person lying on the ground next to a vehicle.
“Rescue was called and transported that victim to Johnston Memorial Hospital in Smithfield. While on the scene, Officers received a call that a person who also had been shot had been taken to Johnston Memorial by a personal owned vehicle. During the investigation we received info that one was deceased and the other was being transported to Wake Med.
“During the investigation the evidence shows that the deceased Roderick Nathaniel Davis from Erwin NC walked up to a vehicle with four occupants and started shooting at the driver. Investigation revealed when Mr. Davis walked up to the vehicle and started shooting, a occupant of the vehicle returned fire and Mr. Davis was struck several times. The driver of the vehicle was struck a couple of time by Mr. Davis gun fire who was the one that was transported by EMS to Johnston Memorial Smithfield.
“The Selma Police have learned that all involved in the incident are from Harnett County and that the shooting stemmed from an incident from Harnett County. We have reviewed this case with the District Attorney’s Office and there will be no charges in this case.”
