The remaining high school football games on The Wilson Times readership area schedule were called off Tuesday. SouthWest Edgecombe’s rivalry game at Tarboro and Greene Central’s game at Farmville Central, both of which were moved to Wednesday, were erased due to the impending arrival of Hurricane Florence.
SWE athletic director Sandra Langley said both schools hope to make up the game this season while there was no indication if the Rams and Jaguars will be able to find a make-up date.
The other games scheduled for Friday night — Beddingfield at Hunt, Clayton at Fike, Southern Nash at Wake Forest and C.B. Aycock at North Johnston — have been called off. C.B. Aycock and North Johnston will try to play Monday, Sept. 17, while Clayton-Fike and Southern Nash-Wake Forest has been reset for Thursday, Sept. 27, and Hunt-Beddingfield has been pushed to Friday, Sept. 28.
All Wilson County Schools, as well as those in surrounding counties, will have an early release Wednesday and not be in session Thursday and Friday. All scheduled athletic events those days have been postponed.
