KENLY — Betty Lou Pope went to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 23, 2019.

She was born on Aug. 23, 1937. She graduated from Atlantic Christian College and taught in the Johnston County Public Schools for 32 years. She was married to the late Charles Ray Pope for 45 years. She loved her church and played piano and organ at Piney Grove Free Will Baptist Church for 67 years. She loved to travel. She had visited all 50 states, seven European countries, Central America and took numerous cruises and bus trips.

The family received friends Monday at Kenly Funeral Service. A service to celebrate her life was held in the chapel with the Rev. David Curry officiating. Burial followed in the Dixon Family Cemetery.

She is survived by her children, Libby Pope (Jackie), Frances Patterson (Kevin) and Myra Bridgers (Ricky); grandchildren, Cathi Pope, Will Patterson, Thad Bridgers and Anna Grace Bridgers; great-granddaughter, Kaycee Roberson; and brother, Jimmy Waddell.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Piney Grove Free Will Baptist Church, 2201 Piney Grove Church Road, Kenly, NC 27542 or to the Kenly Public Library, P.O. Box 519, Kenly, NC 27542.
