GOLDSBORO — Punctuating the regular season with a pair of victories over Rosewood on Thursday night, the Princeton boys and girls basketball teams swept through the 1-A Carolina Conference for undefeated 12-0 records on the season on the way to capturing their respective second-consecutive conference titles in hoops.

Since the conference season began, both Bulldog programs have dominated the rest of the competition. ] Outside of a two-point scare against Neuse Charter at home on Feb. 5, no conference opponent came within 10 points of the Bulldogs’ girls basketball team (18-3, 12-0).

The program beat the Eagles of Rosewood 72-48 on Thursday night, compiling its highest offensive output of the season to date. Further statistics from the game were not available.

Following up the girls team every night, the boys team has beat opponents by an average of 30 points per game on a nightly basis. Rosewood (15-4, 10-2) was no match for the Bulldogs in the final game, hoping to steal an upset for a share of the conference title

Win vs. Rosewood

The No. 33 team in 1-A, according to handled Rosewood 52-33 on Thursday night in a big rivalry game to capture its eighth victory in a row.

Tyrese Whitley scored half his team’s points — or 26 — in the win, while adding five rebounds. Nayshin Waller added nine points as the second-highest scorer, while big man Ethan Potts scored three points, but brought down a team-high 12 rebounds.
