SMITHFIELD — A 65-year-old woman and a 15-year-old boy died from injuries sustained in a two-car crash on Nov. 10, police said last week.

Smithfield Police Chief Keith Powell said the wreck happened when driver Felix Antonio Juarez-Antunez struck a Dodge minivan at 10:30 p.m. at the intersection of Wilson's Mills Road and M. Durwood Stephenson Highway.

The driver of the minivan, 65-year-old Marjory Howell Wagner Regan of Selma, died at the scene. A passenger in the minivan, 15-year-old Ethan Michael Handly of Smithfield, died two days later at WakeMed.

Two other teenagers, ages 14 and 15, are in the hospital in stable condition, said Powell.

Juarez-Antunez was charged with one felony count of causing death by motor vehicle and three counts of felony causing serious injury by a vehicle. Powell said more charges are possible and investigators believe alcohol and speed were both factors in the crash.

Powell said the case is still under investigation. Juarez-Antunez is being held in the Johnston County Detention Center under a $350,000 secured bond.

Powell said Immigration and Customs Enforcement had requested a detainer on the suspect.
