PRINCETON — Christie Woodard said her dream was always to become a restaurant owner. Last month, her dream came true.
Crick’s Pizza Shack opened last month. It’s located at 1060 Edwards Road, just off U.S. 70.
“I’ve always wanted to have a pizza restaurant,” said Woodard. “I just decided that now was the time and I’ve been very blessed.”
The restaurant manager is Todd Miller. Since the pizza place opened Oct. 2, business has been so good it’s outgrown its current location.
“Comments from customers have been positive. The only concern raised was that we don’t have enough room, “ said Woodard. “The store next to ours is vacant and we’ve rented it. With the expansion, we’ll have more seating room and be able to accommodate groups for meetings.”
Future plans include birthday parties, Pizza with Santa and family-friendly, Christian-oriented events.
Crick’s features homemade dough and sauce and daily lunch specials. New entrees are being created such as the Bulldog Buffalo pizza, which features hot sauce, chicken, mozzarella cheese and onions.
Donovan and Michelle Tobell of Princeton enjoyed their dining experience at Crick’s. They along with their 7-year-daughter Lizzy were having lunch.
“The pizza is good and cheesy,” said Michelle Tobell. “The sauce is just right. We’ll definitely be back.”
The restaurant’s name originates from Woodard’s childhood.
“My dad always called me ‘Crick,’” Woodard explained.
She and her husband Brook have three children, Corben, 11, Brooklyn, 9, and Camden, 5. They are students at Faith Christian Academy in Goldsboro.
Crick’s offers dine-in, take out and delivery within an eight-mile radius. Woodard said the restaurant does a lot of take-out business. The phone number is 919-936-0551.
Crick’s Pizza Shack is open 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays. It’s closed on Sundays.
