KENLY — North Johnston sophomore Emma Scott hit two home runs to lead the Lady Panthers to a 12-0 varsity softball win over visiting Nash Central on Thursday to clinch a share of the 2-A Eastern Plains Conference championship.
Scott’s two homers were a part of her 3-for-3 day with three runs batted in. Senior Jordyn Scott slapped a homer as well during her 1-for-3 day with 2 RBIs.
In the circle, sophomore Arial Pearce allowed five hits but no runs or walks en route to a win. Pearce struckout two as well. Pearce was also 4 for 4 at the plate.
The Lady Panthers (12-4, 8-0 EPC) have won eight straight. Including Thursday’s effort, the Lady Panthers have won seven of their last eight by mercy rule. North Johnston needs one more conference win or for Beddingfield and Farmville Central and Beddingfield to both lose a conference game to clinch the EPC.
