Johnston County prepares for Hurricane Dorian

SMITHFIELD- Johnston County Emergency Services employees have made preparations and are continuing to monitor the path of Hurricane Dorian. They will notify the public if it becomes necessary to open any shelters.

Residents are encouraged to prepare disaster kits should the storm affect Johnston County.  Items to have readily available include a 4 day supply of water, medicine, ready to eat foods, manual can opener, battery operated radio, flashlights and replacement batteries.

Should evacuations become necessary residents in the affected areas who have registered with JOCOAlerts will be notified.  

Emergency Services  strongly recommend residents take precautionary measures should Hurricane Dorian impact Johnston County.
