Neuse Charter School senior Tylyia Triggs will travel to Indianapolis, Indiana, from July 22-24 for the 2019 National Federation of State High School Associations National Student Leadership Summit.
“I am so excited for Tylyia and I can’t wait to hear all the ideas that she brings back that will help Neuse Charter and the state,” Neuse Charter athletic director Gail Browning said in a press release from the school. “These young adults are our future and she is doing a great job growing into a strong leader.”
Triggs was selected as one of 140 student ambassadors from 34 states and two Canadian provinces to attend the conference. The NFHS website stated that students selected to attend the initiative will learn to “hone their leadership skills and realize the privilege and power of their influence in their school, community and state.”
“It is awarding her some great opportunities,” Tylyia’s mom, Tiffany Walker said in the release. “The best thing is she gets to represent the place we love — Neuse Charter.”
