North Johnston beats SWE to stay undefeated
From staff reports
PINETOPS — The North Johnston High varsity baseball team won 4-1 on the road against 2-A Eastern Plains Conference opponent Southwest Edgecombe despite what head coach Brian Ford called lack of focused play on Friday night.
Ford said his team, now 11-0 overall and 2-0 in the conference, didn’t look focused against Southwest Edgecombe (2-7, 0-2 EPC), which the Panthers beat 11-1 on Tuesday in Kenly. Ford pointed multiple runners left on base as a negative.
A positive, however, was starter Dylan Pitts pitching a one-hitter while striking out 10. He walked two and permitted an unearned run.
Llmar Ramirez had the game-breaking hit with a two-run double in the top of the fourth inning. Garrison Radford was 2 for 4 with a run batted in. Nate Clifton also was 1 for 3 with a double for the Panthers, who will visit winless Beddingfield on Tuesday.
