MEDICAL EXAMINER: Heart attack killed 82-year-old man

The Johnston County Medical Examiner determined Wednesday that 82-year-old Kermit Hugh Wall, of Blowing Rock, suffered a fatal heart attack which caused a one-vehicle accident early Monday afternoon near Kenly.

The accident at 12:39 p.m. at 2981 NC Hwy 22, six miles outside of Kenly.

Wall crashed through one fence, crossed the front yard, crashed through a second fence and ended up in an open field.

“We were working in the barn when we heard the first crash,” property owner Frank Folb said. “He was not breathing when we pulled him out of the car and my son-in-law performed CPR.”

Kenly first responders were the first to arrive. Also on the scene in addition to the Highway Patrol were the Micro Fire Department and Johnston County EMS.

First responders continued CPR, after awhile and then declared Wall dead at the scene.

He is survived by his wife, Annie Jane Grimes Wall; two daughters, Sandra Wall and Sheliah Wall; two sons, Leslie Wall and Johnny Wall; two brothers, Barry Wall (Joan) and Donnie Wall (Rose).
