James Hilton Eubanks Sr.

 James Hilton Eubanks Sr., 76, of Sneads Ferry, passed away Wednesday evening at New Hanover Regional Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.

Hilton was born and raised in Johnston County on June 15, 1940 to the late William Raymond and Mamie Nadell Boykin Eubanks. Following his graduation from Glendale High School in Kenly, Hilton enlisted in the United States Army serving his country for three years. Upon his discharge from the Army, James continued his service to the State by working for the North Carolina Department of Corrections where he retired as a lieutenant after thirty years of service. Hilton moved to Sneads Ferry after his retirement to enjoy his love of fishing and the beach with his loving wife of fifty years Frances Johnson Eubanks.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 22, 2017 from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Kenly Funeral Service, followed by a service at 12:00 p.m. in the chapel of Kenly Funeral Service with the Rev. John Norris officiating. Burial will conclude the service at the Kenly Cemetery.

In addition to his loving wife, Hilton is survived by his son, James H. Eubanks, Jr. and wife Benita of Willow Springs; daughter Leatrice Eubanks Mills and husband Donald of Raleigh; brother, Lomie Ray Eubanks of Kenly; sister, Sue Boykin and husband Vernon of Raleigh; grandchildren, Dennis Lowery, Josh Lowery, Kaylea Eubanks; great granddaughter, Marlea Lowery; a special cousin, Rose Price; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister Linda Faye Williamson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Sneads Ferry Pentecostal Holiness Church, P.O. Box 128, Sneads Ferry, NC 28460.

    Frances, I am so sorry, but God is so good in everything. I thought so much of you & Hilton. I went to the ITT luncheon with Bill and I loved to see you, Hilton, and Lucille. He was a good man and your memories will help you to get thru the coming days. Praying for your family!!
