KENLY—The North Johnston softball team didn’t mess around last week as the N.C. High School Athletic Association 2A playoffs began.

The Panthers blasted seven homeruns in two games to advance to the third round with ease.

The Panthers scored 13 runs in the second inning alone as they dismantled fellow Eastern Plains 2A Conference foe SouthWest Edgecombe 19-1 in the opening round.

Lindsey Massengill, Jada Santiago, Jordyn Scott and Hannah Wall all went yard in the blowout win.

Wall was a perfect 4-of-4 at the plate and drove in six runs. Massengill and Scott both drove in three runs and managed two hits. Santiago was 2-for-2 with two runs driven in.
