Gladys Leggett Barnes

Gladys Leggett Barnes, 87, passed away early Thursday morning at the SECU Hospice House of Smithfield surrounded by her loving family.
Gladys was born in Johnston County on January 11, 1930 to the late Johnny and Sarah Evans Leggett. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Gladys enjoyed being out in the garden and enjoying the outdoors.
The family will receive friends on Friday, May 19, 2017 from 6:00p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Kenly Funeral Service. A graveside service of remembrance will be held on, Saturday, May 20, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Curtis Jones officiating.
Gladys is survived by her loving husband of sixty five years, Bobby Eldridge Barnes; daughters, Bonnie Poole and husband Steve of Garner and Yvonne Scott and husband Larry of Clayton; sons, Jeffrey Barnes of Garner and Russell Barnes of Kenly; brother, Carl Leggett of Dothan, Alabama; sisters, Louise Andrews of Micro, Betty Marlow of Wendell, and Retha Narron of Middlesex; grandchildren, Michael Scott, April Skinner and husband Caleb, Celena McGee and Matt Kelly, Heather Roebuck and husband Brian, Kerrie Copenheaver and husband Jon, and Doug Poole and wife Lindsey; great grandchildren, Aubrey and Garrett Skinner, Brody Roebuck, Tiernan Kelly and Raylyn Copenheaver.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Johnny Leggett.
Although flowers are welcome, the family suggest that memorials may be made to the SECU House in Smithfield, 426 Hospital Road, Smithfield, NC 27577.
