Five graduate from Selma’s Young Citizens Police Academy

Hayley Bost, a sixth grade student at North Johnston Middle School, gets some tips from Selma Police Officer Josh Layhew on how to handle a traffic stop at the Selma Young Citizens Police Academy.

While this year’s Young Citizens Police Academy enrollment was the smallest ever, the young people and adults who are attending said it’s a worthwhile program. There were five graduates: Melissa Dooley and her 13-year-old son Jared, Susan Bost and her 13-year-old daughter Hayley and Phyllis Brown. The free, seven-week program is sponsored by the Selma Police Department.
