Selma names new town manager

Effective Monday, August 28, Elton Daniels will assume the position of Selma Town Manager.  He is currently the Assistant County Manager for Franklin County, NC.  Prior to that, he was the Town Manager of Sharpsburg, North Carolina.

Daniels has a Master of Public Administration Degree from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina.

Elton Daniels is the new Selma town manager effective Monday, Aug. 28.

He received the 2016 UNC-W MPA Alumnus of the Year Award.  He is a member of the International City Manager Association and serves on the Board of Directors for the North Carolina City/County Managers Association.

He and his wife, Michelle, are looking forward to residing in Selma.

“He is a well-respected and energetic leader who is eager to use his skills and expertise to make a positive difference in Selma., said Mayor Cheryl Oliver. “We are delighted that he will be joining our Selma Team.”

The last day for outgoing Town Manager Jon Barlow is Friday, Aug. 31. He has served as town manager since Jan. 2014.

    Great choice Selma folks. Great man to work with. Excellent problem solver. I will miss him in Franklin County.
