State Auditor Beth Wood was guest speaker at the Kenly Kiwanis Club Thursday morning. She told members one of her jobs is to audit agencies to make sure money is being spent appropriately.
She said her most recent news-making audit occurred when her office found out some 250 cars confiscated from drivers for driving under the influence or fleeing law enforcement officers could not be located. She said that amounted to nearly $600,000 that did not go to the public school system in the state.
