Panthers cream of the crop again

The North Johnston girls tennis team earned their second consecutive conference title last week.

The North Johnston girls tennis team completed its undefeated run through the Eastern Plains 2A Conference last week on its way to winning its second conference title in program history and second in two years.

On senior night, the Panthers blanked SouthWest Edgecombe, 9-0.

Seniors Abby Morris, Lanie Headley and Emily Benedict recorded singles victories on the night while doubles pairings of Morris-Headley, Kylee Mace-Jill Radford and Benedict-Jubilee McCabe earned points for North Johnston in doubles action.

“I was so excited that all seven seniors were able to start and get a victory to their name,” said North Johnston coach David Anderson. “It was also special because this victory clinched the outright Eastern Plains 2A Conference Championship.”
