Will CSX pull plug on Rocky Mount project?

After flirting with North Carolina for nearly two years, it appears that CSX might cancel its plans for the Carolina Connector intermodal rail system in Rocky Mount.

A statement released Friday by CSX spokesperson Christopher Smith said, “Since March CSX has been focused on adopting a new, and significantly different, operating plan that is designed to drive better performance, create a superior service product for our customers and result in safer, more efficient operations.

“As part of our new plan, we have been conducting a comprehensive and strategic review of the company’s intermodal business, including the use and development of existing and planned infrastructure projects.”
