Mary Catherine Davis signed her national letter of intent last week to play volleyball at North Carolina Wesleyan College.
Davis has been a steadying presence for the Panthers volleyball team on the back line and is excited to continue playing as a Battling Bishop in Rocky Mount.
Davis also considered Methodist University but always had a soft spot in her heart for NC Wesleyan.
“It’s a small campus, which I like,” said Davis. “I know the girls and Coach (Vicky) Gentile is very nice.
“I think I always knew I was going to go to Wesleyan.”
Davis has also played basketball and soccer during her time at North Johnston but has excelled in volleyball helping lead the Panthers to a 20-6 record this past season and a share of the Eastern Plains 2A Conference title.
When asked to describe her biggest highlight playing on the volleyball team, it was a no-brainer.
“It would have to be at North Pitt this year when we beat them in three sets,” Davis said. “Nobody thought we were going to do that, we didn’t even think we were going to do that. That was a big deal for us because we hadn’t beaten them since I’ve been here.”
