Johnston County churches send Christmas backpacks to West Virginia

Several Johnston Baptist Association churches sent Christmas backpacks filled with school supplies the weekend of Dec. 1 to children in Bolair, West Virginia.

Bolair is a small, unincorporated community about 75 miles east of Charleston.

In addition to the backpacks, the group provided meals, performed a live nativity and enjoyed crafts and games with the children.

Pine Level Missionary Baptist Church, Faith Baptist Church in Selma and Stevens Chapel Baptist Church in Smithfield were among those that donated 407 backpacks, 150 of which will go to West Virginia. The remaining backpacks will go to other places with other missions teams.
