While a recent American Automobile Association (AAA) study shows an increase in road rage across North Carolina, local law enforcement officials say it’s not a major issue in Johnston County–yet.
In 2017, there was one road rage incident in Kenly.
Road rage does occasionally happen close to home. In April, a Kenly teenager was accused of intentionally running over and killing a man who was on a bicycle. Genaro Padilla, 18, is charged with second-degree murder in the death of Jamica Williams.
From 2011-2015, the AAA study shows 55,000 crashes, 38,000 injuries and 1,401 fatalities occurred in North Carolina.
