“On Wednesday, Jan. 10 at approximately 4:09 a.m., the State Highway Patrol responded to a two vehicle collision on I-95 at the 101 mile marker in Johnston County.

“A 1999 Toyota passenger vehicle traveling north on I-95 failed to reduce speed and struck a tractor trailer from the rear.

“As a result of the collision, both vehicles came to rest within the roadway, blocking northbound lanes of I-95.

“The tractor trailer was hauling a hazardous material at the time but the containers were not damaged.

“A passenger within the Toyota succumbed to their injuries at the scene.
