North girls win one, lose one
Last week, the North Johnston Middle girls basketball dropped one game and prevailed in another game. North won at home against Benson, 36-19, and lost 29-19 at Meadow. North Johnston is 5-3 overall and 4-3 in the conference.
“We started each game very strong and aggressive,” head coach Casey Creech said. “We were in passing lanes and getting steals.”
Selma boys fall to Four Oaks
Last Monday, Selma Middle boys basketball team dropped its game at Four Oaks Middle, 43-38. Selma is 4-4 overall and 4-3 in the conference with three weeks left in the season.
Selma’s scorers were Marcus Thomas with 12 points, Quinlan Sims with 10 points, DeAiren Campbell with six points, Jaquan Watson with four points and Jamir Chrisp with three points.
Selma girls fall to Four Oaks
Selma Middle girls basketball team fell at Four Oaks last Monday, 25-14. The girls are 1-7 overall and 1-6 in the conference with three weeks left in the season.
Tyonnah McNeil led Selma Middle with eight of the team’s 14 points. J. Dena, A. Brown and J. Martin pitched in with two points each.
North boys fall to Benson, Meadow
North Middle boys basketball team fell twice last week in rescheduled games, one at home against Benson, 59-49 and to Meadow, 28-36.
Against Benson North led in the first quarter, was down by one at halftime and continued to keep the game close in the second half. Timoyhn Williams led North Johnston with 26 points, Daniel Lindo had 11 points, Andrew Stancil added six points, Carter Aycock scored four points and Hayden Ballance contributed two points.
