New-look Panthers drop opener

The Panthers traveled across the county last week to open up this year’s campaign to square off against 3A West Johnston and lost to the Wildcats, 9-0.

Michael Barnes, North Johnston’s No. 1 seed, lost 6-1, 6-1 to West Johnston’s Albert Boswell. Panthers sophomore Scott Sellars took four games in the opening set but fell to Brandon Raynor, 6-4, 6-0.
