Kenly Area Chamber of Commerce awards banquet, generally held during the early spring each year, is scheduled for Friday, April 13, 7 p.m. (doors open at 6:30 p.m.) at Kenly American Legion Building.
The event will have a slightly different format this year, according to KACC President Kathy Forbes.
“We are changing things this year and instead of a banquet and full meal we plan to serve heavy hor d’oeuvres and make it free and open to all members of the chamber,” said Forbes. “We will still be presenting awards but we are now calling the occasion membership appreciation awards.”
Forbes said the awards will be presented while guests are eating and they plan to play bingo games throughout the evening.
The biggest reason for the change in format is the chamber wants this event to serve as one of the benefits of being a member, said Forbes.
