Johnston County Public Schools has responded to a media uproar over Selma Middle School’s mascot change.
“There has been an article that claims we are ‘pinning our hopes for change’ on the mascot change,” said Deputy Superintendent Eddie Price. “That’s not true at all. We have a Restart plan that addresses the needs of our school, students and teachers. The mascot change was a very small part of this change.
“I just hate that the negative attention has taken the focus off the many great things we have planned for the school,” said Price.
