The Princeton softball team advanced to the third round of the NCHSAA 1A softball state playoffs with wins over Edenton Holmes and East Columbus.
In the opening round, the Bulldogs, the 10th seed in the east region, dominated Holmes, 10-0. Casey Mitchell allowed just one hit in four innings and the senior struck out three.
Brianna Myers’ RBI single in the first and RBI double in the third plated Megan Bryant each time and gave Princeton the early 2-0 lead. The Bulldogs added six runs in the bottom of the fourth with Mitchell’s two-run blast being the big shot.
Emily Ricks hit a solo shot in the fifth to take down the Aces via mercy rule.
