North Johnston soccer claims conference title
North Johnston Middle’s soccer team is the conference champions, winning 8-2 against Four Oaks last Monday.
With Benson’s forfeit last Wednesday, North Johnston Middle finishes at 11-2 overall and in the conference.
“The girls came out playing strong wanting to hold on to the first place slot in our conference,” said head coach Casey Creech. “We jumped out and scored quickly. Everyone was playing great and we played as a team to get the win.”
North Johnston baseball splits games
Last week, North Johnston Middle’s baseball team claimed a win and suffered a loss, placing themselves at 7-4 heading into the final week of the season.
The win last Monday was a 5-4 win over Four Oaks, and the 4-3 loss came Wednesday against Benson.
“Man, what an exciting game,” said head coach Chris Creech after Monday’s game. “We never gave up and kept the energy flowing in the dugout.”
North Johnston softball loses
Last Monday, North Johnston Middle’s softball team fell to Four Oaks, 11-2. With Benson’s forfeit on Wednesday, North stands at 6-3 overall and in the conference with one week remaining in the season.
“Overall, we made too many defensive mistakes and the other team hit the ball very well,” said head coach Kevin Cave about Monday’s game.
Princeton baseball remains undefeated
Last Monday, Princeton Middle’s baseball team defeated Benson Middle, 6-0. As of the end of this game, Princeton stands undefeated at 8-0.
Starting pitcher Paul Edens pitched a no-hitter in five innings with 11 strikeouts. Peyton Mitchell pitched the last two innings with four strikeouts and completed the no-hit shutout.
