Filing opens for County Soil/Water District Supervisor, Judicial filing begins June 18

Filing opened on Monday, June 11, for Johnston County Soil and Water District Supervisor. Interested candidates may file at the Johnston County Board of Elections office located at 205 S. 2nd St., in Smithfield, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Filing ends on Friday, July 6 at 12 noon.

Two candidates have filed. The first was Doris Louise Wallace of Smithfield, who filed on June 11. Wallace is a retired social worker.Another candidate, Timmy Wayne Strickland, of Selma, filed Monday, June 12. Strickland is the owner of Strickland’s Surveillance and Safety Products.

Filing for Johnston County judicial positions starts on Monday, June 18 and ends on Friday, June 29. The seats up for re-election are the ones held by  Chief District Court Judge Joy Jones and District Court Judge Addie Rawls.
