Pine Level: no tax increase, fees will go up

Pine Level residents will not face a property tax increase for the coming year but will see water, sewer and garbage rates increase.

The tax rate will hold steady at 46 cents per $100 valuation but water will go up 50 cents, sewer 5 percent and garbage rates $2.50, to offset the cost of a new garbage truck.

It is still a tax increase no matter how you spin it . The elderly in Pine Level live on a fixed income and this rate increase will hurt them. I have already heard from several residents that they want change and don’t approve of this increase. It’s time for a change at the top Mayor . Get ready there will be competition for the office of Mayor in Pine Level in 2019! Why not go line item by line item and cut and cut? Just because a department got a certain amount last year doesnt mean they will get the same this year. Big changes are coming to Pine Level in the next election for Mayor so stay tuned!

Going up 2.50 and 5 percent will really hurt the elderly on a fixed income. How about putting some of the wasteful spending.
