The North Carolina High School Athletic Association released the final standings last week in the Wells Fargo Conference Cup competitions for the 2017-2018 sports season.

North Johnston came in second place in the Eastern Plains 2A Conference and Princeton finished in third place in a very close competition in the Carolina 1A Conference.

The Wells Fargo Cup award recognizes schools with the best overall interscholastic athletic performances within individual conferences.

The conference awards program started in 1980 by Wachovia and has been continued by Wells Fargo.

Individual conferences decide their own method for awarding points with final standings playing a big factor.

In the Eastern Plains 2A Conference, North Johnston finished behind conference newcomer Nash Central. The Panthers totaled 69 points through last year while the Bulldogs amassed 86 points. Nash Central swept the track and field titles this spring as well as claiming the EPC title in baseball and girls soccer to take first place.
