PINE LEVEL – Freddie Hinnant Creech, 86, passed away on June 27, 2018. Freddie was born on April 1, 1932, in Pine Level, NC, the daughter of Fred and Dolcie Hinnant. She graduated from Pine Level High School in 1950 and then East Carolina Teacher’s College in 1953. She later returned to East Carolina University to complete a Masters in Elementary Education and a Masters in Counseling in 1968. During the first 15 years of her career she taught at Clayton and Selma Schools. She later served as the Guidance Counselor for Four Oaks School. During her retirement, she devoted much of her time to the family business, Hinnant Family Vineyards. Mrs. Creech belonged to Alpha Beta Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma, an organization for key women educators, where she served as president and held many other roles. She also enjoyed her time on the Johnston County Arts Council and Johnston County Community Foundation Board. Mrs. Creech was a long time devoted member at Pine Level First United Methodist Church, where she enjoyed serving in many different capacities. In her later years, she loved promoting and supporting many of the church’s outreach ministries. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Person Creech, in August 1999. She was also predeceased by all of her siblings, Willard Hinnant, Jackie Hinnant Johnson, Douglas Hinnant, and Rudy Hinnant. Freddie Hinnant Creech is survived by her daughter, Mary Creech Daughtry, and son-in-law, Billy Daughtry. She leaves two grandchildren, Tyler Daughtry and Mary Margaret Daughtry, and special friend John Wesley Hairr. Also, survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends. The family is very grateful for the excellent care she received over the years at Johnston Health. Also, we are very thankful for the love and dedication of her many caregivers.
A visitation will be held at Pine level First United Methodist Church on Friday, June 29th from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. There will be a celebration of her life at Pine Level First United Methodist Church at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 30th, with a burial service to follow at the Crocker Cemetery.
