Kenly family opens farm to rescue horses

Motivated primarily by a deep love for horses, Kenly newcomer Melanie McClellan and her family have begun a non-profit horse rescue venture called Second Chance Stables.

The operation is located on Scott Road two miles from Kenly on property previously called Maple Ridge Farm.

According to McClellan, the focus of Second Chance Stables is taking in horses that owners have not properly cared for and finding good homes for them after nursing them back to health.
