While most elementary school students have put down their books and learning tools completely for the summer, some young students are getting a jump on next fall and having fun at the same time by attending the Summer Reading Program at Micro Elementary School.

The second-year program, which is run by Micro Elementary media director Laura Warren, is held each Tuesday afternoon from 2 to 4 p.m.

It began on June 26 and will run through Aug. 7.

The program is being offered free of charge with the only requirement being for the parent of the child to complete a short registration form for the kids.

Students who wish to attend the session do not have to be enrolled at Micro Elementary School nor any other schools in the area.
