Princeton Mayor Don Rains said he is open “to conversation” regarding the Town of Princeton joining the Smithfield-Selma Area Chamber of Commerce.

Smithfield-Selma President and Chief Executive Officer Mike Mancuso said that while he didn’t appear before the board at its Monday, July 9, meeting to take over the Princeton Chamber of Commerce, he said wanted to help the local chamber.

“We do a lot for the towns we serve,” said Mancuso. “We’re working on a branding campaign to bring new businesses to the area. We like to see the local entities get along. We want to be a one-stop shop for the communities.”

“I’ve been a member of your chamber for many years,” said Rains. “I’ve talked to people who’ve been a part of your chamber. I’d like for Town Administrator Marla Ashworth and Commissioners Mike Rose and Walter Martin to meet with you and come back with a proposal at our Aug. 6 meeting.”
