16-year-old killed in single vehicle crash

BENSON – A 16-year-old boy was killed Thursday morning, Oct. 4, in a single-vehicle accident.

North Carolina Highway Patrol spokesman Sgt. Michael Baker said troopers were dispatched at 7:16 a.m. and that the initial investigation revealed that Tyrese Makell Shaw, of Angier, was traveling north on County Line Road in a 2005 Mitsubishi Endeavor.

Baker said Shaw’s vehicle ran off the roadway to the right, Shaw overcorrected, then traveled off the roadway to the right, struck a tree and overturned.

Shaw was ejected. A male passenger, who has not been identified, was injured and transported to WakeMed for his injuries.

Baker said no charges are anticipated. Shaw was a student at Triton High School in Erwin.
