Church to sell barbecue plates

SELMA — The Church of Hope located at the corner of Graves and West Elizabeth streets will hold its annual barbecue dinner plate sale and auction on Saturday, Oct. 13. Plates are $8 each and will be available for eat-in or take-out from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.. The auction will begin at 6 p.m. For more information, call Sandra Pate at 919-934-5670.

Harvest sale, auction scheduled

SMITHFIELD — Sanders Chapel United Methodist Church will hold its annual harvest sale Wednesday, Oct. 24 at the Pomona Creech Community Building, 3929 Brogden Road. Dinner will begin at 6 p.m. followed by an auction at 7. Auction items include homemade crafts, baked goods, canned items and fresh produce. The meal is free. Turkey shoots begin Oct. 26

Kiwanians plan pancake supper

KENLY — The Kenly Kiwanis Club will have a pancake supper 5 – 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 27 at the North Johnston High School cafeteria, 5915 U.S. 301 N. Cost is $7 for adults and $5 for children.

DeWayne’s supporting breast cancer charity

SELMA — The DeWayne’s garden center and gift shop at 1575 Outlet Center Drive says it will donate 100 percent of proceeds from the sale of all jack o’lantern pumpkins purchased through Oct. 31 to Making Strides Against Breast Cancer through its Pumpkins With a Purpose charitable program. Church to hold harvest festival

WILSON’S MILLS — Wilson’s Mills Baptist Church, 652 Swift Creek Road, Smithfield, will hold its harvest festival, auction and vendor fair Saturday, Nov. 3 beginning with breakfast items at 9 a.m.; barbecue sandwiches 11 a.m. to noon and barbecue chicken plates from 5-6:30 p.m.

The vendor fair is planned from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. and a live auction is scheduled at 7. All proceeds will benefit the church’s Students Walking According to the Truth ministry. For more information, call 919-796-2170 or 919-934-4181.
