NCDOT reschedules Main Street paving to begin Nov. 5

BENSON–The North Carolina Department of Transportation said Monday, Oct. 10 that because of setbacks caused by inclement weather Main Street in Benson paving will now begin on Monday, Nov. 5.

Contractors are set to begin Monday, Nov. 5 and work from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. They will continue paving on the nights of Nov. 6, 7, 8, and 9, working 7 p.m.  to 6 a.m. to complete the project.

The contractor was delayed due to weather, and elected to come back after Mule Days.

Paving will begin on the outside lanes, then move into the inside lanes, followed by the intersections.

Main Street will still have active lanes open during paving operations, but some intersections may be closed with detour signage placed before the closure.

Contractors are asking that all vehicles be moved from parking spots along Main Street before paving begins each night at 7 p.m.
