BETHEL — North Pitt broke into the win column with a tight 26-19 win over North Johnston on Friday. The North Pitt Panthers offense continued to push out points in a continuing trend that showed progress has been made in Bethel.
The two teams found themselves tied at 7-7 with five minutes to go in the first quarter, but North Johnston tacked on another score with just under a minute to go to take the lead 13-7 after the missed point-after attempt. The second quarter followed the same pattern, with North Pitt tying the score early in the second. Once again, North Johnston scored late as halftime approached to make it 19-13. North Pitt didn’t quit, tying the game once again at 19.
The score held until the end of regulation. North Pitt had just enough to push through and score in overtime, bringing the end of an 18-game losing streak that dated to the beginning of the 2017 season.
