Aguilar leads Carolina to 7-2 win over Down East

KINSTON — Ryan Aguilar hit a two-run double in the second inning, leading the Carolina Mudcats to a 7-2 win over the Down East Wood Ducks in Friday's Single-A Carolina League game.

The double by Aguilar scored Zach Clark and Dallas Carroll to give the Mudcats a 2-0 lead.

Down East answered in the bottom of the frame when Eric Jenkins hit an RBI single, driving in Yanio Perez to cut the deficit to one.

The Mudcats later added one run in the sixth and seventh innings and three in the eighth to secure the victory.

Carolina right-hander Nelson Hernandez (1-0) picked up the win after allowing one run on four hits over five innings. Opposing starter Tyler Thomas (0-1) took the loss in the Carolina League game after giving up two runs and four hits over four innings.
