KERNERSVILLE — Two runners from the Princeton High cross-country team competed in Saturday’s North Carolina High School Athletic Association 1-A championship meet, and both placed in the top 85.
Jackson Woodard came in 35th place among a loaded field, running the five-kilometer race in 18 minutes, seven seconds. Fellow Bulldog Adam Casey finished 83rd at 19:08.
Franklin Academy runner Aaron Rovnak won the race with a 16:05 blazing time.
Cougar girls basketball beats Wayne Christian
GOLDSBORO — Freshman Anna Taylor scored a team-high 24 points to lead the Neuse Charter girls basketball team to a 57-36 win over Wayne Christian Academy on Tuesday night.
Taylor, who also dished off six assists and added three rebounds, was followed by freshman Lynsey Parrish with 12 points. Senior Dargan Harris and junior Daja Staten pitched in a double-double each; Harris scored 11 points and compiled 10 rebounds, while Staten brought down 12 rebounds and added 10 points.
Later in the evening, the Cougar boys team lost 70-52 to the Eagles, but statistics were not kept for the game.
The Neuse Charter basketball teams continue nonconference play on Friday, traveling to East Wake Academy on Friday.
