BENSON — The Johnston County Sheriff's Office and Garner Police Department are joining forces to capture two suspects in the Nov. 12 murder of a man at the Scotchman convenience store on N.C. 210 near Interstate 40 in the McGee's Crossroads community.

Sheriff's Capt. Jeff Caldwell said deputies responded to the store at 12320 N.C. 210 in reference to a robbery and shooting at 1:30 a.m. Thursday. Caldwell said deputies arrived to find a man dead at the scene.

"The active investigation has determined the victim was not an employee of the store," said Caldwell. "The two suspects can only be described as African American males."

The sheriff's office hasn't confirmed the victim's identity.

Authorities believe the perpetrators committed two earlier armed robberies in the area.

On Nov. 12, an armed robbery occurred at Reedy Creek Gas and Grocery on N.C. 210  outside Four Oaks. Two days later, about a half-hour before the Scotchman holdup, an armed robbery occurred at the Han-Dee Hugo, 401 Benson Road in Garner.

Garner Police have released photos of the two suspects  from the Han-Dee Hugo robbery and what's believed to be the Scotchman getaway car - a black or dark-colored four-door sedan.

Anyone with information is asked to call either the Johnston County Sheriff's Office at 919-989-5010  or the Garner Police Department at 919-772-8810.
