SMITHFIELD — Bobby Everette Bissette, 89, died Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2020. Memorial plans will be announced at a later date.
He grew up in Wilson County and graduated from Rock Ridge High School. Smithfield has been his home for the past 30 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roney and Maye Bissette; brother, James; and infant son, David Thomas Bissette.
He is survived by his sister, Patricia Bissette Shaw (Caswell); children, Susan Bissette Smith (Jerry), Tim Bissette (Ginger), Frank Bissette (Harriett) and Monica Bissette Massey (Chris); grandchildren, Amanda Bissette Batchelor, Adam Bissette (Keli) and Randy Bissette; as well as nieces and nephews.
He enjoyed his vegetable garden, Braves baseball and his church, Sharon Baptist. He was one of the first volunteer members of the Rock Ridge Fire Department in the early 1960s, later worked as a volunteer with Johnston Health and was an active volunteer with the local prison and truckstop ministries.
He chose to donate his body for study and research at the UNC School of Medicine.
