Micro to open utility center
MICRO — The town of Micro will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony for its new utility business center, 450 U.S. 301 S., at 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 5. Town residents and visitors are welcome and refreshments will be served.
Kenly Christmas activities start Thursday
KENLY — The Kenly Christmas Parade is scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 5, in the downtown business district.
The Kenly Area Chamber of Commerce will present Christmas on Main on Friday, Dec. 6 and Saturday, Dec. 7. Festivities begin with candlelight tours at the Tobacco Farm Life Museum from 5-8:30 p.m. Friday. On Saturday, the Kenly Fire Department will host “PJs and Pancakes with Santa” at 8:30 a.m. followed by photos at Santa’s workshop at 10 a.m. The Christmas on Main festival continues from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. with a cookie and candy bake-off, children’s activities, a live Nativity scene, food vendors and a touch-a-truck display.
‘Breakfast with Santa’ slated
WENDELL — Corinth Holders High School’s Future Farmers of America chapter will hold “Breakfast with Santa” from 8-11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 7. Admission is $10 per person. There will be a pancake and sausage breakfast, games and activities for children and photos with Santa.
5K run paired with toy drive
SMITHFIELD — The town of Smithfield will hold its eighth annual Grinch Stink Stank Stunk 5K toy run and jingle bell jog at 9 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 7. All participants are asked to bring a new unwrapped toy or gift card. All toys will benefit Harbor and the Johnston County Department of Social Services’ Angel Tree project.
Prizes will be awarded for costumed “Whoville” characters and participants are encouraged to dress up. Registration forms are available at the Smithfield Recreation and Aquatics Center or online at www.smithfield-nc.com.
Race packet pickup is from 4-7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6. Toys can be dropped off when participants pick up their race packets.
School to host vendor market
SMITHFIELD — The Innovation Academy at South Campus PTA will present its Winter Market vendor fair from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7 at the 521 Martin Luther King Drive school. Various vendors will be on hand offering gift items and concessions will be available from food trucks.
