RALEIGH — Former U.S. Sen. Tom Coburn and Convention of States Action president and co-founder Mark Meckler will host a Monday town hall meeting on “the most important civics lesson not taught in high school.”

The Convention of States North Carolina group will hold the presentation at 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 18, at N.C. State University’s McKimmon Center.

“The answers to fixing America’s biggest challenges will never come from Washington, but rather America’s heartland,” a news release states. “Spending, debt, regulatory issues and the constant attack on state sovereignty continue — even when the people demand otherwise. America’s founders included in the Constitution a mechanism that gives the people and the states power to combat the federal takeover of the decision-making process. This event is a primer on constitutional courage and the opportunity to change the course of American history.”

Attendees will learn about the convention of states process authorized in Article V of the U.S. Constitution.

Admission is free and RSVPs to regional captain Joy Ruhman are requested by emailing
