Dancers bring home state fair awards

PINE LEVEL — Cloggers from the Baker School of Dance earned the Annette Pulley Award for outstanding overall performance in the N.C. State Fair’s 2018 Folk Festival as well as several other awards.

Other Baker School of Dance winners were “I Like It,” second place in line category, with Mattie Parrott, Averlee Anderson, Olivia Hodges, Kaylee Philyaw, Autumn Crowe and Meredith Boykin, and“High Horse,” second place, with Elizabeth Baker, Patti Moye, Amy Stancil, Amy Peedin, Amy W. Long, Emily Lee, Mary Byrd, Kayla Baker and Kamryn Foy.

Also, honorable mention in their categories went to “She Moves” with Kyndall Foy, Anna Crocker, Alexis Gupton, Kailey Rea, Peyton Gardner, Lauren Lawhon, Mallory Vetrano, Mikayla Pope, Olivia Hobbs, Eleanor Hinnant and Haylie Heller; Mother-daughter group with Kailey Rea and Karla Britt, Peyton Gardner and Kristy Gardner, Olivia Summerlin and Kayla Baker, Alexis Gupton and Rene Street and Carly Peedin and Amy Peedin received honorable mention.

“Boogie Woogie Choo Choo” received honorable mention for its routine with Lexi Barbour, Tenley Barbour, Samantha Philyaw, Aubrey Senter, Mackensie Perry, Kailyn Blanton and Caroline Barefoot.
