GOLDSBORO — Sheriff's deputies are investigating a teenager's death in an apparent shooting early Saturday at a Wayne County mobile home park.

Deputies responded to a shots-fired call near Camp Trailee Road and Odom Farm Circle in the Dudley community and found 17-year-old Damien Donall Dancy lying in the street on Camp Trailee Road, authorities said Saturday.

Dancy, who was pronounced dead at the scene, lived on the 100 block of North Running Deer Circle in the Pleasant Acres Mobile Home Park. A part of that street runs parallel to the road where his body was found.

“The victim appeared to have died from a gunshot wound, but that will have to be confirmed by an autopsy,” Capt. Shawn Harris of the Wayne County Sheriff's Office said in a news release.

Detectives are investigating Dancy's homicide and ask anyone with information to call the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office at 919-731-1480 or Crime Stoppers at 919-735-2255. Callers can remain anonymous and may receive a cash reward for their tip.
