SMITHFIELD — Detectives have arrested a suspect in a man's Monday killing following a countywide manhunt on Tuesday.

Johnston County sheriff's deputies were called to an assault at 1516 Braswell Road in Smithfield at 10:30 p.m. Monday. Joshua Biedekapp, who lived at the address, was found dead.

Capt. Jeff Caldwell said investigators determined Cody Lloyd Carmody, 24, of 317 Sun Ray Drive, Clayton, fatally attacked Biedekapp.

Detectives obtained an arrest warrant charging Carmody with first-degree murder and captured Carmody on Tuesday, Caldwell said.

The investigation into Biedekapp's killing is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Johnston County Sheriff's Office at 919-989-5010.
